| Slam’n Salmon Ocean Derby starting July 5 th through July 7th 2024 –
This festival is the largest ocean fishing derby on the West Coast where hundreds of fishermen flock to Brookings every year for their try at a “trophy Chinook Salmon”. Fishermen and their families come from all over the state of Oregon; some come from as far away as New York and as close as Idaho. As many as 450 fishermen board their boats in hopes of winning prize money for the biggest salmon and a chance to win other awards and prizes such as rods and reels, crab pots, and numerous other fishing gear. | Azalea Festival, May 24, - 27, 2024 | The 85th Azalea Festival. Theme for this year "The Places You Can Go". Since 1939, this Brookings coastal springtime celebration has featured long history, "Oregon Heritage Tradition" annual parade, carnival, street fair, air show, Chamber Shrimp Feed, Memorial Day Service, car show, Elks deep-pit BBQ, Library Book Sale, bonsai exhibit, Sunday Community Church service, regional art shows, quilt and crafts exhibits, Coast Guard demonstration and live music. The festival celebrates the blooming azaleas that beautify Azalea Park from April until June. Annually, Memorial Day weekend. It is estimated that 12,000 people will attend this year’s event. | Pirate Of The Pacific Annual Festival – check website for schedule | The 13th Annual Pirate Festival August 8, -11, 2024
Event kicks off Friday at noon At Port of Brookings-Harbor, with opening ceremonies on the main stage at the Port. Shanties (that’s “songs” for all you lads and lassies not familiar with the lingo) will be performed by the Brotherhood of Oceanic Mercenaries; pirate reggae, kids’ pirate fun, live cannon fire from the pirate encampment at the south end of the boardwalk and a sword fight on the boardwalk will also take place. Last summer’s festival lured between 18,000 and 20,000 people to Brookings, Harbor, the Port of Brookings Harbor and beyond. This year, Ellis anticipates to see at least same number or more people will be bedecked in their finest long clothing, slinking around southern Oregon.
