About Us
THE BEGINNING
From Overgrown Land to Ocean Suites Motel
In 1997, Loren and Dee Griffith began clearing brush from an overgrown property on Lower Harbor Road in Brookings, Oregon—land that would soon become Ocean Suites Motel. Over the next two years, Loren worked tirelessly, seven days a week, to construct the first eight suites. In the spring of 1999, Ocean Suites Motel officially opened its doors, marking the start of a family legacy built on hard work, hospitality, and heart.
ABOUT US
Building Comfort, One Suite at a Time
As the years went on, Loren expanded the motel while Dee managed the office and supervised housekeeping. Their teamwork and attention to detail became the foundation of Ocean Suites Motel’s reputation for comfort and reliability. One of their earliest gestures—carrying a recliner upstairs for the first guest with back problems—inspired a lasting tradition. Today, every suite includes a recliner, just like you would have in your own home. By 2007, the motel had reached 24 one-bedroom, apartment-style units—the perfect balance of convenience, comfort, and space.
A FAMILY LEGACY
Continuing the Griffith Tradition
When Loren and Dee retired in 2015, their son Don and his wife Susan proudly stepped in to continue what they started. They remain dedicated to the same principles that defined Ocean Suites Motel from the beginning—cleanliness, comfort, and genuine value. Every guest experience, from short stays to extended visits, reflects the Griffiths’ enduring vision of offering not just a place to stay, but a true “home away from home.”
